Smaller than man-sized monsters
The best opponents for new parties, but in large enough numbers can be a menace to even more experienced teams.
|
Roughly-man-sized characters and monsters
These are either men, or creatures the size of a man, or just a bit taller, but they are often intensely difficult combat opponents! Get those magic weapons ready. "Smaller" ogres might be in this category as well.
|
Big monsters
Bigger than a human, but smaller than a giant, many of these creatures will take an entire party to kill -- if they are lucky! Includes trolls and larger ogres.
|
Giant-sized monsters
Serious danger here -- these creatures are even bigger than an ogre or troll, but not quite as truly huge as a large dinosaur. They might overwhelm beginning groups and be quite a challenge to parties with some experience.
|
Huge monsters
Even larger than a giant-sized creature, these are simply incredible threats. The only creatures even larger than these are epic behemoths almost as large as terrain features!
|
Titanic monsters
Terrifying and epic! The Besieger can be summoned by a necromancer from its hibernation deep in the earth to ruin a fortress, and when so summoned it will singlemindedly advance upon this target. Nothing can stop it. Once it arrives, the fortified place is doomed, no matter how solidly built. Once this is accomplished the Besieger will rampage for days, weeks or even months before burrowing under the earth again.
As a Necromancer raises the Besieger from the cold, dead earth, each order for a Besieger includes a free Necromancer.
