15mm Spanish Civil War
A miniatures range for the fascinating, colourful, and bloody Spanish Civil War, a war that very much set the tone for the cataclysmic world war that followed right on its heels, in more ways that one. Please note that many of the codes are perfectly usable for either side. Codes marked with an R = Republicans, and N = Nationalists. If marked G = Generic and can be used for either.
The codes marked R for Republican have been painted as Republican troops, so to balance things out many of the first codes of generic troops have been painted as Nationalists, but these would all be completely appropriate as Republicans as well. For instance, within the ranks of Republican units, appearance might be quite variable from man to man, but a very common look was the same as Nationalists -- isebelino cap and Spanish Mauser. In fact, some of the codes in the "Republican" command sets might be just as much at home in a Nationalist army, such as the officers. The pasamontanas hat became a symbol of the Republic -- for instance, the unit to the left was a very hard-fighting Republican unit made up of CNT anarchists, and they are almost all wearing pasamontanas (but a few have isebelinos!). So, I don't think I'd use pasamontanas-wearers in a Nationalist army, and I definitely would not use the Mosin-Nagant Rifle or the PM M1910 MG, as these were supplied to the Republic in large numbers by the Soviet Union.
March 30, 2024: A Ford or GAZ AA truck has been released, with parts for both open bed and canvas covered. The Ford AA was widely produced in Europe under license and would have been available to both sides, and Stalin provided many Gaz AA to the Republicans. The GAZ AA was a copy of the Ford AA but had a curved headlight support bar -- both types of bar are provided. By the way, the Germans captured thousands of GAZ AA in 1941, and as they were superb vehicles they were pressed into service. They can still be seen in German use all the way up until the end of the war.
April 21, 2024: Our first aircraft model, the Hs-123, has been released. This was the biplane precursor to the Ju-88, but was even more beloved because of its incredible durability and very low speed, which permitted it to linger in very close support. It was so useful that the Germans tried to put it back into production, but the tooling had been destroyed when the Stuka was chosen as the Luftwaffe's dive bomber. Decals are included for an aircraft that served in the Condor Legion and then transferred to the Nationalist air force (without a change in markings) and for "Red 5 of the Luftwaffe, which served right up to Kursk and beyond on the Eastern Front.
