Late Fifteenth Century Range, 1455-1495
This range covers the period from the end of the Hundred Years War until the beginning of the Italian Wars. Foot service by the men at arms, accompanying massive numbers of infantry archers, remained the norm in England, and the success of English arms in the Hundred Years War meant that many other nations continued to emulate these tactics. At the same time, however, new ways of war were finding battlefield success as well, such as the Swiss use of the pike column on the offense. Gradually continental men at arms took to fighting on horseback again, and many armies increasingly adopted hand firearms and artillery in field battles.
Range notes: Tru-Fit Horses are slightly smaller, for those who game in systems with tiny bases. They should really help get three mounted models on one teeny 40x30mm base. Richard is depicted charging at Bosworth bearing a shield, as he is described by De Valera as "donning his coat-of-arms" and this has been interpreted as possibly meaning his shield (shields were still occasionally used by mounted knights in this period). Shire Levy mix-ins are meant to be added to other Foot sets without livery, to mark which units are shire levies, colonists in Ireland, or other troops who might have no livery and lighter armour.
The French are quite suitable as European mercenaries in Wars of the Roses armies.
