15mm Korean People's Army Ground Force
This range represents the infantry and vehicles of the current North Korean Army, called the Korean People's Army Ground Force.
Infantry packs are organised in the current structure of the infantry squad -- seven men with Type 68 rifles (copy of the AKM), two with the RPG-7, two with SAW-type weapons (our mix is one RPK and one Type 73, the latter being an indigenous design heavily based on the Czech vz.52) and one squad leader with a BaekDuSan pistol (a copy of the Czech CZ 75).
These squad sets are available either in the flapped hat, or in the helmet. The Korean People's Army Ground Forces recently adopted a canvas cover for the helmet which apparently is universal and in a pattern very similar to the Woodland Pattern used by the South Koreans. One or two battalions of North Korean infantry also appear to have adopted uniforms in Woodland Pattern but similar in cut to that worn by the rest of the infantry -- this may have been a propaganda effort to cause alarm in South Korean defence circles.
Current armour assets of the People's Army Ground Forces are approximately 1,000 each of Type 59, T-55, and T-62 tanks, also about 1,000 Chonma-Ho, a modifed T-62, and a smaller number of the Pokpung-Ho, which is a more substantially modified version of the T-62 (thought by some to include some superficial elements of the T-72's design). The main APC is the BTR-60 and a locally-manufactured six-wheeled version of that vehicle.
As the Korean War suggests, the North Korean infantryman, despite his antiquated uniform and weaponry, would make a formidable foe to be taken very seriously. He is tough, heavily indoctrinated, and, with North Korea's "Military First" social policy, the member of a privileged class.
